Its a very dull day its about 38c and every thing is getting a dusting. even the sweat catches the dust.

yesterday evening moon even that had a haze

And seeing there is nothing to see further than 200 yards, I just captured one of the most annoying habits the male have here in Egypt. Its what my wife calls just making sure its still there,

No matter where they are the have to make sure its still there. this guy is one of the local papyrus, or pretend papyrus touts that the police deem to see fit and let loose amongst the tourists leaving the Luxor Temple .

there is a Chinese proverb that says,

Man with hands in pocket feel cocky all day.

Here in Egypt they do it in the open,

16 th May sunset I hardly saw the moon it was so small then got a shot when the sun set behind the Valley of the Queens mountain Range .The Horn,( El Gurna)

Hieroglyphs for the Valley of the Kings.

This weather is mentioned on the tablets found in the village of the workers. those who work on the pharaohs tombs rather than trek back from the Valley of the kings over the mountain built a small village on the plateau

above the VOK to stay overnight, during the chamsin weather,( winds) today people use this path for pleasure it takes almost 2 hours to trek from Dier El Medinet to The Wadi Maluk.

The Roof Restaurant Luxor Egypt

the roof is the best place for good Egyptian food IE mixed grill 55egp the only part of the meal not cooked on the open grill are the chips (pomfries) , I try and treat myself once a month, I am not one for eating out as I like to cook my own food, but the view and the food is superb, so if you are in Luxor pay it a visit just have a tea or one of the coffee's they make,

Most of the Cruisers have been moved lower down the Nile supposed to have gone to new berths 5 kilometers away, but it seems they have berthed 10 in line that makes one hell of a walk from boat docked at no 1 .

this reflective glass must once been part of a cruisers outer glass panel, Just been left so someone can try their skill at dumping it in the river befor they start the new dig lowering the whole promenade.

I got up very early this morning no real reason as I was making a cup of tea, I noticed the sky was a pink glow, got dressed to take some photos as always from my roof balcony problem is we are not the highest house in this area , the shots are restricted to one area and always have the new belfry towers of the new build Church or the mosque minaret in the view, so went back to get dressed to go out. to take shots from near the Nile. so today I am going to show you what I saw of God's amazing creation, because I feel he woke me up especially to see it,
the view on leaving my home. with the new dig Avenue of the sphinx on my right.

looking back again as I decided I was going on the Nile River Itself if the ferry boat was waiting.

Luxor Temple is a large Ancient Egyptian temple complex located on the east bank of the River Nile in the city today known as Luxor (ancient Thebes) and was founded in 1400 B.C.E.
Known in the Egyptian language as ipet resyt, or "the southern sanctuary", the temple was dedicated to the Theban Triad of Amun, Mut, and Chons and was built during the New Kingdom, the focus of the annual Opet Festival, in which a cult statue of Amun was paraded down the Nile from nearby Karnak Temple (ipet-isut) to stay there for a while, with his consort Mut, in a celebration of fertility – whence its name.
The earliest parts of the temple still standing are the barque chapels, just behind the first pylon. They were built by Hatshepsut, and appropriated by Tuthmosis III. The main part of the temple - the colonnade and the sun court were built by Amenhotep III, and a later addition by Rameses II, who built the entrance pylon, and the two obelisks (one of which was taken to France, and is now at the centre of the Place de la Concorde) linked the Hatshepsut buildings with the main temple.
To the rear of the temple are chapels built by Tuthmosis III, and Alexander. During the Roman era, the temple and its surroundings were a legionary fortress and the home of the Roman government in the area. hence the roman murials stil on its walls.

You must excuse me for getting excited but this is the first storm I have witnessed here in the seven years I have lived in Egypt.
We had the wierdest sky today at about 16.30 the sun went . dissapeared behind the clouds and it went very quiet like as if everybody and every living thing new the thunder was coming. all except me. then just after sunset the clouds over the Valley of the Kings started to light up first I thought the egyptians had put a light show on for the tourists but soon realized we where in the middle of an electrical storm. then we had I touch of rain and I mean a few drops. the first rain on my face in 7 years.
at 23.30 its still here, the electrical storm that is! had more rain just enough to keep the dust down but there again I am sure other areas have had much more as we seemed to be on the edge of the storm it seemed to have made a circle around Luxor and the flashes are now heading for the Aswan area, had a few video's of the flashes will try and get some snaps from the clips tomorrow.
time for bed if I am to catch the sunup later, I am sure it will be worth getting up for .

HTC touch phone Camera

Its not like me to go out without my Canon 450D I had strict warnings from my wife not to take the camera out . I was having problems with my Mobile so we decided that I should buy a new one and I opted for a new HTC touch, upgrade from my existing HTC mobile phone, save getting to learn how to use a new type of mobile. And of course I had to check see if the camera works. and as you can see it takes great photos.
I am so pleased with the results now I do not need to change lenses all the time and carry a bulky camera everywhere. but its not a replacement for my super 450d first its just a pocket camera that takes a few seconds to click no macro etc and its my mobile phone that I carry everywhere anyway.

Ok its not the sky. this is an enhancement on the xmas lights here in luxor
all they did was throw some lights on anything that grew out of the soil ie cacti and trees
not much else made an effort so as I said my enhancement makes them look better.
Ibrotel put 4 stars on it last year and that's where they stayed to save putting them back up again this year.

Not even a cloud in the sky over the last 4 days so I thought I would show you what is in the air
first there was this rather noisy air force plane seems to be a British one got the R A F emblem on it anyway.
The moon was directly above at 14.00 and these swifts where flying around it. yes the moon is a lot closer here in Egypt and anyway as a child I was told.
